John's Picnic 2004 - Page 6

Billy Agius's T-Special. Built as a raffle car for the Picnic a couple of years ago, this car just gets better and better.
As Corey originally hails from Castlemaine (Hot Rod Capital of Australia), we figured we'd head up there for a bit of a cruise. It's about an hour or so away.

Honest officer, I was only doing 55!

With the 5-speed, this thing will sit on highway speeds all day long.

Yes it does go faster, but we didn't get a photo of that.

First stop was Rob Carroll's place. He's the president of the Dry Lake Racers of Australia and also has a hydraulic fittings business. Corey needed to pick up some fittings for his triple carb setup, so I snuck in the shed and tried to steal Rob's roadster. He caught me though.

BTW, this thing has been in primer for the 20 years or so, way before this whole Rat Rod/Patina thing was ever invented!

OK, it's actually the "Street Rod Capital of Australia", but this is a HOT ROD!
Next stop was John Lynch's place. He's building a new car. It's going to be a little... how you say... different.
How about an ARDUN with one of them side-by-side twin carb intakes.
In a '34 Ford.
A bit of metalflake and pinstriping on the dash for good measure.

And some more on the rear.

No need to panel beat this baby, just paint straight over all the lumpy bits.

John has a bit of a menagerie at his place. This kangaroo actually comes when he calls it. No, it's not called Skippy.

John's got a great house and an even better garage, but he's got a really shit driveway.

Either that or Corey doesn't know how to tighten a nut. Funny thing is, we didn't notice any difference in the ride!
